Jonathan – Jonny to his family – Jon to his friends - lived a full and amazing life.

His nature was kind, helpful, silly, ambitious, courageous, stubborn, supportive, and clever. Like any other teenager he had his struggles and difficulties, but he never let them get the best of him. Jonathan’s dream was to be a Master Mechanic, like his father and grandfather before him. Born with a wrench in his hand, his love of all things with motors or gears was older than he was. Jonathan was driving the lawn tractor at the age of 6 and go-karts with his older brothers by the time he was 8.  Anything that was broken he had to take apart, confident he could fix it - sometimes unsuccessfully – but always pushing himself to learn and pushing others to teach him.

Whether it was boating at Boy Scout camp or snowmobiling in New Hampshire - any kind of transportation was his kind. Jonathan could not wait to drive and at age 14 he purchased a big old gas guzzler of a truck with money he earned while working at his dad’s repair shop after school and on the weekends. He worked tirelessly rebuilding his truck, counting the days until he could finally get his driver’s license, taking the test just a week after his 16th birthday. Self-motivated and driven by his passions he gave 110% effort to his work and studies. He loved all things mechanical and happiest when he was driving his moped or Honda Prelude the “super lude”.  Wanting to achieve his goal, he chose an education in the automotive repair field at Eli Whitney Technical High School. He made great friends and together they found old mopeds - teaching themselves how they worked and how to fix them.   He began to collect tools of his own, learning responsibility and financial control. Jonathan learned that the proper tools, knowledge, and professionalism are the keys to success. That studying is imperative and learning never ends… That you can always improve yourself… and that anything is possible...

his drive is the inspiration for this scholarship.
